ABOUT US

I grew up in the McBain area and have always had a strong will to hunt and fish all times of the year – I still do today.  I earned my taxidermy certificate in Montana and started Wildlife Legends Taxidermy in 2007. In 2010 I married my best friend Kate, who enjoys fly fishing and bow hunting and helps at our shop.  We live in a wooded remote area and have a black lab named Mason. Over the last several years, I’ve used my God-given talents as a taxidermist.  I invest quite a bit of time and resources into learning the best techniques for all species that I mount, using live and picture reference to ensure accuracy in my work.   The best learning opportunities are at the Michigan Taxidermy Competition.  There are hundreds of taxidermists that come every March to compete in several divisions.  The last two years I’ve competed in the Masters division which is the highest division and have placed very well.  Back in 2013, I took my coyote pup competition piece to the World Taxidermy Competition in Missouri and placed well there.  The World Taxidermy Competition holds events in the United States every other year. I’ve also competed at the Ohio Taxidermy Competition.   In addition to competing, I attend all the technique seminars I can. My favorite part about my job is talking with customers,  hearing about their hunt and sharing stories.  I hope to see you at the shop. Matt Diemer
